Irish Dominate Kentucky: The Night in Tweets

Nov 30, 2012, 10:01 AM EDT

If you read our football blog, you may have seen our recent Twitter reaction blog post, inspired by the weekly recap put together by Irish Elvis of Her Loyal Sons.

Though HLS’s recaps normally stick to football, about halfway through last night’s game, @IrishElvis began issuing a lot of “gold stars” on Twitter. You can expect an in-depth summary coming from him in the next day or two, but for me, Notre Dame’s victory over Kentucky was too much fun to not sum up in my own series of tweets.

Pre-Game Hype: Purcell was on fire last night. One of the best crowds I’ve seen during my time at Notre Dame. The combination of the top-ranked football team coming out in full force, the blackout promotion and the matchup with the defending champions made for a pretty special atmosphere.

In-Game: I’ll leave most of this up to HLS, but here are a few tweets from during the Irish’s dominant performance.

Irish Congratulations: After the win, several Notre Dame coaches and student-athletes congratulated the hoops team on Twitter.

Media Reaction: It’s only November, but Notre Dame’s 14-point win against a bigger and stronger Kentucky squad was pretty impressive.

Former Players: A few Notre Dame basketball alums were pretty excited about the big Irish win.

Player Reaction: The Irish were pretty excited after that one. Confident it’s a sign of things to come.

Dickie V: Because the ESPN commentator and Fighting Irish football superfan is awesome at Twitter.
