After upsetting Marquette on Thursday night, the #24 Notre Dame men’s basketball team earned its fourth straight appearance in the BIG EAST semifinals.
Tonight, the sixth-seeded Irish will meet Louisville, the nation’s #4 team and the #2 seed in this year’s BIG EAST tourney.
By now of course, we all know the history between the Irish and Cardinals. Six of the last nine meetings have been decided in overtime, highlighted by the five-OT battle in February, an epic many would consider the best college basketball game of the year.
This will be the third year in a row that Notre Dame and Louisville meet in the tournament’s semifinals, and if adding a new chapter to this exciting rivalry wasn’t enough, Syracuse and Georgetown will meet in the first semifinal beginning at 7 pm. It’s a basketball fan’s dream.
As former Irish forward Tim Abromaitis posted on Twitter this morning…
Friday night at the Garden might be the best atmosphere for a game in all of basketball—
