Irish Stop Red Storm

In front of their seventh sellout crowd of the season, the second-ranked Notre Dame women’s basketball team cruised to a 74-50 win over St. John’s on Sunday afternoon.

The Irish (15-1 overall, 5-0 BIG EAST) have now won 11 straight games and sit atop the conference standings.

Natalie Achonwa notched her tenth double-double of the season and led the way with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Skylar Diggins scored 18 points and added six rebounds and six assists. Madison Cable also chipped in with 13 points, tying a career-high.

Notre Dame dominated on the glass, finishing the game with a 48-22 rebounding advantage. The Irish defense was also strong, holding the Red Storm to just 35% from the field.

Following a three-game homestand, Notre Dame hits the road this week, taking on Pittsburgh on Wednesday night at 7 pm ET, before returning home on Saturday against Providence at 2 pm ET.
