Two days after #22 Notre Dame defeated Purdue at the Crossroads Classic, the Fighting Irish returned home to face IPFW at Purcell Pavilion. They overcame nine first half turnovers and a tough Mastodon defense to win 74-62, improving to 10-1 on the year.
Pat Connaughton had his best game of the season, scoring 18 points while adding six rebounds and five assists. The sophomore shot 7-of-9 from the field and led all scorers.
The Irish also got key performances from veterans Jack Cooley (14 points, eight rebounds) and Scott Martin (13 points, seven rebounds). In total, nine players scored for Notre Dame.
The team returns to its home floor on Wednesday against Kennesaw State (7 pm ET on ESPN3). Mike Brey will see a familiar face across the court, as the Owls are led by Lewis Preston, who was an assistant with the Irish for six seasons.
